Sticky Toffee Pudding - Whittard

This tea always makes me happy because it is connected with so many great memories.

  • It reminds me of my one and only trip to London. We happened to be there during the Queen's Golden Jubilee so it was a really magical time to be there. As I've mentioned before, I must admit with embarrassment that we did not go out for tea even once while there. Pathetic. But next time....

  • This is a tea I drank a couple of times a week at my last job - a very happy time as Director of Administration at the Revolving Museum in Lowell, MA. Professionally I've worked in non-profit administration in a range of locations. This was by far the most unusual and exciting of the positions. The smell of this tea brings me back there.

  • Whittard of Chelsea, Newbury Street, Boston was the first shop review I did on the newly inaugurated Tea Pages blog. (I restocked my Sticky Toffee supply that day so I assure you that this sample is fresh!)

Now that I've bored you all with my trip down memory lane - the review. Sticky Toffee Pudding tea is a blend of India and Ceylon tea with caramel pieces and flavorings. When measuring out this tea, I'm always a little thrilled by seeing the chunks of caramel. The tea appears to be an OP grade, relatively small leaf. The boiling water melts the caramel providing a wonderful flavor and a delicious scent. The aroma alone makes this tea a must have. The liquor is rich and dark. Everything about this tea makes me happy.

Tea: Sticky Toffee

Comment: This is a flavored tea that will always have a place in my collection. This is also one of very few teas to which I add a bit of sugar.
