We were invited to a celebration in Sologne. The host, a passionate hunter, had brought an ensemble of French Hunting Horns that played for the well over 100 guests, before the meal. Solemn and exciting!
With marshes and heather, game and woods, cultures and castles, Sologne offers the visitor an array of interesting aspects to choose from. I got some farm produced goat cheese, from a proud producer near Romorentin who said his goat cheese was the best in the area. Right now, leeks are part of the landscape, giving the fields a distinctive blueish color. They are very tasty. I brought back 3 kilos! I have started using the leeks and today's menu was a Minestrone (an Italian soup) and the goat cheese. with a crusty baguette and wine.
Bon appetit!
